Just as the skilled artist adds clay to a sculpture to create a full and radiant visage, our skilled doctors and nurses use advanced cosmetic fillers to sculpt and restore youthful contours. Lines, wrinkles and years disappear instantly with little or no recovery downtime.
Fillers provide a safe, non-surgical way to enhance and rejuvenate facial features. Injections are administered quickly and conveniently with minimal discomfort and interruption of your daily routine. A single treatment may last from six months to as long as three years, depending on the type of filler used. In most cases, results are readily maintained with scheduled follow up treatments.
Treatment options include:
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
H.A. fillers safely and effectively restore fullness to facial features, reducing and even eliminating lines, wrinkles and creases. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our bodies and there is little or no downtime required after treatment. These fillers typically last from six months to one year. Varieties include: Restylane-L®, Restylane Lyft®, Juvederm® Ultra XC, Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC, Belotero Balance®, and Restylane Silk®
*TOC Medical Spa is one of the nation’s Top 500 Providers of Juvederm® fillers.
Radiesse® is composed of naturally occurring calcium hydroxyapatite particles suspended in a gel for administration. This dermal filler works beautifully for correcting deeper facial wrinkles, firming the jawline, or reshaping and enhancing the cheekbone area. It can be used to restore a more youthful appearance to hands as well. The immediate results observed with Radiesse are sustained and expanded by the development of Radiesse-stimulated collagen for up to eighteen months.
Sculptra® Aesthetic, also popular for restoring facial volume and reducing wrinkles, works very differently in that the material itself is a collagen stimulator and not an actual filler. It is composed of powdered poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the chief ingredient in many absorbable sutures. The natural looking results are produced gradually.
Belotero Balance® is a precision dermal injectable uniquely formulated to softly smooth superficial or fine lines, such as those over the nasolabial areas (smile lines), and even tiny lines around the lips. The results are nearly immediate, with little to no downtime needed, and, in trials, are lasting an average of nine months and more.
Juvederm Vobella XC is the newest filler in the Juvederm family and is approved for lines around the lips and fine lines in the lip to last up to one year. It’s the perfect finishing touch for natural lip enhancement.
Juvederm Voluma® XC
Juvederm Voluma® XC is another HA filler distinguished by its increased longevity, lasting up to two full years. It excels in adding instant volume to the cheek area, restoring contour and youthful appearance.
BEFORE A FILLER TREATMENT
To reduce the likelihood/degree of bruising that sometimes occurs with filler treatments (at the time of treatments or afterward when there is natural swelling taking place), it’s recommended that several anti-coagulating substances be avoided one week before your appointment. These include: aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil® or Aleve®/Naprosyn), Omega-3 vitamins, fish oil, Vitamin E supplements, and flaxseed oil. Do not discontinue taking medications if prescribed by your physician without consulting with them first.
It is also recommended that alcohol be avoided for 24-hours before your treatment and 24-hours post-treatment.
Some people find that taking Arnica Montana herbal supplements helps reduce or minimize the likelihood of bruising. The pills (sublingual) can be started, as directed, one or two days before your treatment or even at the time of treatment. They can be taken for about 1 week. These are available at TOC Medical Spa or at many pharmacies. Neither of these methods guarantee that you will not experience bruising. Bruising is always a risk involved with injectable treatments.
AFTER A FILLER TREATMENT
After your treatment, it is recommended that you do not exercise or participate in vigorous activity for 24 to 48 hours. Ice may be gently applied to the area of treatment to reduce swelling and discomfort, but be careful not to apply pressure to the area with the icepack.
Do not lie down until bedtime the night of treatment; then, if possible, try to sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first night.
If you can tolerate acetaminophen (Tylenol®) normally, you may take this over the counter pain reliever as directed on the packaging for the first 24 to 48 hours for comfort.
Please avoid the following for 5 to 7 days post-treatment: massages or other “face-down” treatments, swim or ski goggles (for cheek filler), elective dental work, facial treatments, etc. You may want to wait 2 or 3 days before resuming use of your Clarisonic® cleansing brush, NuFACE® or Tria® device, or Retin-A.
If you have a history of cold sores or are taking prescription anticoagulants, please call our medical spa and inform us before coming in for an appointment. Sometimes, pre-treatment with medication is indicated. If you are ill or taking medication for an infection, please call to reschedule your appointment as it is not advisable to have injections at this time. We appreciate your understanding of this.
