Often, we have patients ask us why we use multiple types of filler during one treatment. Different types of fillers are best optimized when used in the facially appropriate areas. More structural fillers such as Radiesse®, Restylane® Lyft and Juvederm® Voluma help provide a better contour to the cheeks and jawline. Belotero® and Restylane® Silk are thinner, softer fillers that are better at softening fine lines without adding too much “bulk”. Juvederm® Ultra, Juvederm® Ultra Plus and Restylane® are the “middle of the road” fillers that can be used almost anywhere. This can be very confusing to our clients, and we as providers try to sort this out for you. Part of a filler consultation involves a detailed discussion with you about the finer points of all these choices. To make this even more confusing is a technique called “layering” where fillers are literally sandwiched over one another in the same area to allow for a very natural look. This might involve starting with Radiesse to provide structure to the cheek and following up with a thin, soft filler like Belotero to even out fine lines and create a smooth cheek junction. Add Botox® or Dysport® to your treatment, and you’re bound to have questions! The Aesthetic Nurse Consultants at TOC Medical Spa would be happy to answer any of your questions and help you achieve a naturally beautiful look with whatever combination works best for your skin.
